Taxes and Fiscal Responsibility

Throughout my time in the Senate, we have fought to keep government spending in check — resulting in one of the largest surpluses in the state’s history. With that surplus, I was proud to help deliver the largest tax cut in the state’s history and put more money back into the hands of hard-working West Virginians. This was only possible by controlling bureaucratic spending and promoting pro-growth policies.

In addition to record tax cuts, we have eliminated the tax on military pensions and ended the taxation of Social Security benefits for all West Virginians.

We’ve also eliminated the personal property tax on our vehicles and created the homestead tax exemption for many disabled veterans.
